Having two major universities; the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham is a very popular student city. And it's not just the students that are attracted to this city. Shopping and retail is a big thing in Nottingham and this attracts many visitors from far and wide to the city. Having two large shopping centres; the Victoria Centre and the Broadmarsh (which is due for expansion and modernisation very soon), Nottingham will soon become one of the best shopping cities in the UK. It is currently in the top 5 anyway!
Nottingham is world famous for the outlaw; Robin Hood. Nottingham Castle still stands and daily tours operate for the ancient City of Caves underneath the city and Castle. If you want to go back into history and discover what it felt like to be around at that time; visit Nottingham's historical sites, including The Tales of Robin Hood and the Galleries of Justice. There are also many historical pubs, which are still open to this day around the Castle grounds. One famous pub; Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem is partially built into the cave system beneath the castle grounds.
Nottingham's nightlife is one of the busiest and best in the entire UK. The city centre is literally packed with hundreds of pubs, clubs and bars. Whether you want something modern, chic or historical, Nottingham has it all.
The outskirts of Nottingham are full of beautiful scenery and landscapes, including the famous Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park. In the city however, the Arboretum Park has an air of quality about it and is extremely beautiful with its vast gardens, water features, bird houses and beautiful flower gardens.
Wollaton Hall and Wollaton Park are two grand creations located within the city. Once within the walls of this grand park the city will seem like a far away place. The park is an open deer park, with vast rivers and acres of green land. The gigantic Wollaton Hall is home to the Natural History Museum.
The Royal Concert Hall is situated in the city centre and is the venue for music events and many cultural events; hence attracting a wide audience from all over the country. The Theatre Royal is also part of this; being next door, therefore the two theatres together are very popular.
